Northern Lights Tours in Kiruna & Abisko
Hunt the Aurora Borealis with guides who live here and read the weather like a second language. We keep groups small, bring warm gear and adjust the route in real time to reach the clearest skies across Kiruna, Abisko and nearby valleys.

Why our Aurora chases work
- Local micro-climate know-how: We weigh forecast models against on-the-ground cloud movement from Kiruna to Riksgränsen.
- Small groups: More flexibility, faster decisions and space for your tripod.
- Photography help: Settings, composition and quick tips for phones and DSLRs.
- Warmth & comfort: Thermal suits/boots available; we choose stops with shelter when possible.
Good to know: The aurora is a natural phenomenon. We optimize your odds by chasing clear skies—some nights we drive long distances, other nights the best view is ten minutes away.
When & where to see the Northern Lights
Season & best time
Season runs late August–April. Peak months are September–March with long, dark nights. The lights can appear anytime after dusk, but 20:00–01:00 is typical for strong displays.
Locations we use
We scout multiple corridors: the rain shadow around Abisko, open horizons near Björkliden, mountain passes toward Riksgränsen, and drier pockets east of Kiruna. We move until we find a gap in the cloud.
How to photograph
- Manual mode: start ISO 1600–3200, f/2–f/2.8, 3–8s shutter.
- Phones: use Night mode or a long-exposure app; steady the phone.
- Bring spare batteries—cold drains them fast.
