Leave the shorter trails around Kiruna behind on a full-day snowmobile expedition through the winter wilderness of Swedish Lapland. Travel approximately 35–40 kilometres on a point-to-point journey through snow-covered forests, frozen landscapes and remote Arctic terrain.
With a maximum of 8 guests, regular wilderness stops and a hot campfire lunch along the way, this approximately 6.5-hour experience is designed for travelers who want to go farther and experience snowmobiling as a genuine Arctic journey. No previous snowmobile experience is required.
This expedition is operated by local guides with experience of winter travel in the Kiruna region and the Arctic conditions that shape every departure.
The route, pace and stops are adapted to current snow, ice and weather conditions, with local knowledge helping the group travel safely and comfortably through remote winter terrain.

Pickup in Kiruna
Pickup from selected locations in Kiruna and nearby areas before transfer to the starting point of the expedition.
Gear Up & Safety Briefing
Receive Arctic clothing and snowmobile equipment, followed by a full safety briefing and introduction to the snowmobile.
Begin the Wilderness Expedition
Set out from the Poikkijärvi area and begin the point-to-point journey through snow-covered forest, frozen landscapes and remote Arctic trails.
Scenic Wilderness Stops
Stop regularly along the route to rest, stretch, take photographs and experience the silence of the Arctic surroundings. Guests sharing a snowmobile can switch drivers at suitable stops.
Campfire Lunch
Take a longer break in the wilderness and gather around an open fire for a hot lunch with stew, grilled sausages and warm drinks.
Continue Toward Svappavaara
Continue the second part of the expedition through changing winter landscapes as the route carries you toward Svappavaara.
Return Transfer to Kiruna
Finish the snowmobile journey and travel back to Kiruna by transfer after approximately 6.5 hours of Arctic adventure.

📌 Good to know
- Driving licence: Drivers must be at least 18 years old and bring a valid physical car or motorcycle driving licence. A photo or digital copy is not sufficient.
- Age requirement: Passengers must normally be at least 17 years old. Please contact us before booking if travelling with a 16-year-old.
- Shared or solo snowmobile: Two guests sharing a snowmobile may switch drivers during suitable stops, provided both meet the driving requirements. Guests booking the solo option drive their own snowmobile.
- Alcohol and drugs: Guests must arrive sober and fit to participate. Driving a snowmobile under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited in Sweden, and participation may be refused if necessary for safety.
- Weather & trail conditions: Arctic conditions can change quickly. For safety reasons, the route, distance or planned point-to-point journey may be adjusted when necessary.
- Snowmobile damage: Guests must follow the guide's instructions at all times. Damage caused by reckless or negligent driving may result in an insurance deductible of up to 7,000 SEK.

Do I need previous snowmobile experience?
No. Previous snowmobile experience is not required. Your guide will explain the controls, provide a safety briefing and make sure you are comfortable before the expedition begins.
How long is the snowmobile expedition?
The full experience lasts approximately 6.5 hours, including pickup, preparation, snowmobile riding, scenic stops, the campfire lunch and return transfer.
How far do we travel by snowmobile?
The planned riding distance is approximately 35–40 kilometres. The exact route and distance may vary depending on snow, ice, weather and trail conditions.
Is this a loop tour?
The expedition is normally designed as a point-to-point journey between Poikkijärvi and Svappavaara, allowing you to experience changing landscapes throughout the day rather than simply returning along the same trail.
Is the tour physically demanding?
This is a longer and more active experience than a standard short snowmobile tour. You will spend several hours riding outdoors in Arctic winter conditions, so some tiredness in the hands, arms, shoulders and body is normal. However, you do not need to be especially fit, and the tour is suitable for most adults with normal everyday physical ability.
What is included in the campfire lunch?
The wilderness lunch includes hot stew, grilled sausages, warm drinks and snacks, enjoyed beside an open fire during a longer stop in the winter landscape.
Can two people share one snowmobile?
Yes. With the shared snowmobile option, two guests travel on one snowmobile and can switch drivers during suitable stops, provided both guests meet the driving requirements.
Can I book my own snowmobile?
Yes. A solo snowmobile option is available for guests who prefer to drive their own snowmobile throughout the expedition.

Safety always comes first. If snow, ice or weather conditions make the planned route unsuitable, your guide may change the route, use an alternative trail, shorten the distance or operate part of the tour as a loop.
How large is the group?
The expedition is limited to a maximum of 8 guests, allowing for a more personal experience and a pace adapted to the group.

Yes. Pickup and return transfer are included from selected locations in Kiruna and nearby areas.

The snowmobile allows you to reach winter landscapes that would otherwise be difficult to access and experience Swedish Lapland as a journey rather than simply a short activity.
No previous snowmobile experience is required. The focus is not on speed, but on travelling comfortably through the landscape and enjoying the experience along the way.
Important to Know – A Real Wilderness Expedition
This is a longer and more physically demanding experience than a standard short snowmobile tour. You may spend several hours riding in Arctic winter conditions, with temperatures sometimes dropping to around -35°C.
Cold, wind, maintaining your riding position and gripping the handlebars for long periods can make your hands, arms, shoulders and body feel tired. Even guests with normal fitness should expect this to feel like a full and physically active day outdoors.
Much of the route passes through remote wilderness without normal road access. If you become unable or unwilling to continue, it is normally not possible to arrange an early pickup. Guests should therefore be prepared to complete the journey together with the group.
You do not need to be an athlete or an experienced snowmobile driver. The expedition is suitable for most adults with normal everyday physical ability. We travel at a controlled pace and make regular stops where you can rest, stretch and warm up.
