Your evening combines a fire-cooked Arctic dinner in our reserved open-air riverside shelter, a Northern Lights drive through the Kiruna winter landscape in a heated minibus, and a midnight celebration with champagne and fireworks.
Thermal overalls, insulated winter boots, gloves and warm hats are provided. After dinner, your guide follows the weather and cloud conditions in search of the best available skies, with comfortable warming breaks in the minibus between outdoor stops.
Before midnight, we return to Aurora River Camp and, when ice conditions are confirmed safe, walk onto the frozen river to count down the final seconds of the year beneath the Arctic sky.

Pickup in Kiruna
Meet your guide at your selected pickup location and travel in our heated minibus to Aurora River Camp.
Arrival at Aurora River Camp
Arrive at our reserved open-air riverside fire shelter, change into the provided thermal winter clothing and settle onto reindeer hides beside the fire with a hot welcome drink.
Arctic New Year's Eve Dinner
Enjoy a New Year's Eve dinner prepared directly over the guide's separate cooking fire. Choose between fire-cooked Arctic char or fire-seared reindeer, followed by an Arctic-inspired dessert and hot drinks.
Into the Arctic Night
Leave Aurora River Camp in our heated minibus. Your guide monitors weather, cloud cover and Northern Lights conditions and chooses the route according to the best available conditions that evening.
Northern Lights Search & Warming Stops
Travel through the Kiruna region and stop at selected dark locations when conditions are suitable. Between outdoor stops, return to the heated minibus to warm up comfortably before continuing the search.
Return to Aurora River Camp
Return to the riverside fire shelter and gather around the fire again with a hot drink as the final moments of the year approach.
Champagne & Midnight Walk
Champagne and an alcohol-free sparkling alternative are prepared for the midnight toast before we make the short walk from the shelter towards the frozen river.
Onto the Frozen River
When ice and weather conditions are confirmed safe, walk onto the frozen river and gather beneath the open Arctic sky for the final countdown of the year.

Your evening starts with pickup from selected locations in Kiruna before we travel through the Arctic winter landscape to Aurora River Camp. Settle onto reindeer hides around the open fire and enjoy a hot welcome drink while your guide prepares dinner directly in the shelter using a separate cooking fire. The meal is designed around warm Arctic flavours and cooked especially for this New Yearβs Eve experience.

π Into the Arctic Night
After dinner, we leave Aurora River Camp in our heated minibus and head into the Kiruna night. Your guide follows the latest weather and cloud conditions and chooses the route according to where the clearest skies are most likely to be found.
There is no fixed route. We may stop at several dark locations during the evening, giving you the opportunity to experience the Arctic landscape and search for the Northern Lights. Between outdoor stops, return to the heated minibus to warm up comfortably before continuing.

Well before midnight, we return to Aurora River Camp and gather once again around the fire in the riverside shelter. Enjoy a final hot drink, warm up beside the flames and take in the atmosphere as the last moments of the year approach.
The shelter has high wooden walls that provide protection from the wind while remaining completely open to the Arctic sky above. There is no roof, so snowfall can become part of the experience.
